Lake Havasu City, Arizona is a vibrant city full of big town amenities (like a Super Mall) and yet retains its’ quaint small town appeal. Nine months of the year the weather here is special. The summer months (for most) are a bit too hot. But the rest of the time you can find lots to do and have the accommodating weather to make the most of it.
Our town is famous for the London Bridge (click the picture). Robert Paxton McCulloch, known for his McCulloch chain saws, came to this beautiful part of the desert by the wonderful Lake Havasu and came up with a vision of how he was going to transform this idyllic landscape into a thriving vacation paradise. He purchased the London Bridge, and stone by stone, had it transported to Lake Havasu City. It has become the center piece of our town. Much fun can be had just walking around the village beneath the bridge where you will find shops, restaurants, our Visitor’s center, and the channel that seperates the island from the mainland.
Lake Havasu City is well known as Arizona’s playground and with good reason. It is very “snowbird” friendly with winter events designed to keep us busy. Some of the key events are the Christmas Boat Parade of Lights, Havasu Island Balloon Festival & Fair, Winterfest, Winter Blast, Western Pyrotechnics Shows, Rockabilly Reunion, Blue Grass Festival, Classic Car Shows, dancing on the bridge, plus many more. It is a destination for golfers, boaters, water sports enthusiasts, hikers, nature lovers, car enthusiasts and history buffs. It is within driving distance of casinos, Mexico, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, etc. There are over three hundred days of sunshine a year and all the adventure you can handle, from Colorado River boating to four wheeling or hiking with picturesque desert scenery, and fishing in one of the finest Arizona fishing lakes (largemouth bass, striped bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and flathead catfish). If outdoor activities aren’t your thing, there is plenty of shopping at Lake Havasu City boutiques, specialty shops, or the Mall. Take a tour of our famed London Bridge. Take in a show or satisfy your appetite with international cuisine.
